This page explains different aspects of security regarding the usage of TheBCard service. Below you will find short explanations of the measures we take to keep your data safe (slider etc.). In addition there are some optional security settings that every user can choose according his/her needs. The legal terms for using this service can be found here.
The slider is there to protect your information from computer programs (bots) that are able to look through all the possible World Wide Web addresses. Their main objective is to collect e-mail addresses for junk mail. The slider needs to be unlocked before seeing any of our user's card. Unlocking needs certain mouse movement which can not be replicated by bots.
You can determine your privacy settings by yourself in the "edit my bcard" view. Here we will explain briefly your options.
It will probably take about two weeks before major search engines list your BCard.
Although we are using many different systems against computer bots who try to collect your personal information automatically, we can not quarantee that we are able to fully avoid this. The greatest security would be a long URL address (ie. www.thebcard.com/KK12/a6a2c8a62d) but this makes sharing the bcard`s URL more difficult.
